The Reactioneer 002 - attempt 2

Feed woes

So despite the fact that everything had been going smoothly, Episode 2 of the Reactioneer hasn't appeared in iTunes yet.  It also doesn't appear that any of my other subscriptions have updated.  I'm gonna give it another 24 hours before I start looking into it.

Meanwhile, my voice is getting a rest today.  Tomorrow will be Spot On Reflections.  The game?  It's a mystery!

Enjoy Halloween, be nice to the kids, have some candy yourself, and don't vandalize stuff!

Problems with embedded audio

I have removed the embedded audio of the podcasts for the time being. After working in the HTML code to keep the audio from autoplaying, I have learned that it is still playing all tracks for certain Google Chrome users (but not all). As I hate autoplaying sound and video for other websites the last thing I would want to be is a hypocrite.

For anyone with good HTML skills and a working knowledge of Google Chrome, here is the code I was using:

"<embed autostart="false" height="50" loop="false" playcount="0" src="???????????" type="audio/mpeg" width="250"></embed>"

I would replace the '?????' with the url for my audio file. Initially I learned that the autoplay setting wasn't enough to just say false for Chrome, but i had to point out the audio/mpeg type. On my 64 bit Vista machine, it did not autoplay after that. However, Rob of JumpOnMyCake Podcast & BringYesterdayBack fame had all audio tracks autoplay on Chrome via his Windows 7 laptop.

Anybody who knows how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated. For the time being, no audio will be posted here.

Spot On Reflections 001 - Final Fantasy 6

Here is the inaugural episode of Spot On Reflections.  To start this segment off right I focused on the game and situation that led me to become a gamer in the first place; Final Fantasy 6.  I hope you can listen and laugh at my predicament and share your own stories of this game.  This podcast should be up on iTunes shortly.  Enjoy!

The Reactioneer: Spot On Reflections Episode 1 - Final Fantasy 6

I have finished recording the first Reactioneer mini-cast: Spot On Reflections.  I have changed it from what I mentioned in the original post of this blog.  Spot On Reflections will be my personal reflection on a videogame with hopes for feedback from you - the listener!  For more details, you're best off with actually listening to the episode (once I have it posted).

The top # list show mentioned previously is now going to change to 'The Reactioneer: Quick Hits', and will also be weekly.

With the email address and this blog up and running, my next move is to find free hosting (until my requirements increase to paid hosting).  I hope to have that completed by this time next week, so you may be reading a blog about something you can't listen to for one more full show and two more mini-shows.

The Reactioneer goes live (part 1)

Welcome to The Reactioneer!  I admit to not knowing what brought you here, but I'm glad you've at least read this far.

The Reactioneer at Blogger is the blog adjunct to The Reactioneer podcast; a brand new podcast featuring me (and only me for the time being) that will post on a weekly basis.  In the podcast you will find Let-it-tor to the Ed-it-tor (my review of listener mail and comments via this blog), PUN-ishment (where I read listener submitted puns related to the show or show topics), Last Time On... (updates to stories in previous episodes ), Wiki-whaaaat?! (I provide information from a recent issue and provide commentary), GAME OOOOOONNN!!! (videogame stories from around the web that caught my eye), Tech Dech (non-game related tech stories), KISS: Keep it Stupid, Stupid! (groan inducing stories of modern business practices), Blitz Fit (health & medical topics) and Totally Balls (funny/weird/interesting sports tidbits).

The Reactioneer podcast will also include a non-scheduled Spot On segment where I read and react live to top ten types of lists from sites such as GameFaqs, Cracked, etc.  In order to keep the segment fresh I will also switch up topics all with the idea of placing me on the spot and attempting to provide memories of things I'm interested in, such as videogames in order to start a dialogue with listeners.

The primary podcast is in a questionable state at this time.  I'm currently one of three hosts of the JumpOnMyCake podcast (found here: http://jumponmycake.tumblr.com/).  Today, as I mentioned in Episode 1 of Reactioneer, the future of the podcast is questionable but I would like to keep doing it.  If JomC does end, then The Reactioneer will be my personal continuation of the format we started building.  If JomC winds up continuing, then this podcast/blog will be where the ideas that get scrapped for time will appear, as well as certain supplemental sections.

I'm currently working on hosting and then iTunes submittal, so please stay tuned.  Feedback is welcome!
