This one comes from CVG.
I disagree with the article in one specific facet:
"The concept of working in a game to unlock paid download content would sound odd in the console world, but iPhone gamers will be more than familiar with this functionality."
I have two problems with that statement. First, factually speaking, you may not be able to call it paid DLC if you can legally acquire it without paying for it above and beyond the price point of obtaining the game. From there, we get to the point that console gamers, pc gamers, etc. are used to very similar model to this: unlocking bonus items/modes/music/whathaveyou via gameplay was long a tradition of many games regardless of genre, because internet access wasn't what it is now.
In fact, I feel that this model does more to harken back to the days of yore in games than it does to further bolster the future path we seem to be on. I would prefer little to no DLC at all in my games, but if it must persist, this is a style I can live with.
As always, sound off!
